Designers notes - the inspiration behind Kinnaird pattern
The "Kinnaird" fair isle pattern was inspired by the enormous circular lenses on display at the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses at the Kinnaird Head Lighthouse in Fraserburgh, North East Scotland. The museum has the largest collection of lenses in the UK and they are absolutely beautiful works of art! The picture shows the lens from Neist Point located on the west side of Skye. It was first lit in 1909. The fresnel lens was made by Chance Brothers in Birmingham.
